You Can Still Wear Cute Shoes - Review

You Can Still Wear Cute Shoes by Lisa McKay is a great encouraging read about the challenges and unique situations that come with being a preacher's wife. Don't you love that title? Any woman who has a husband in the ministry should read this book. In addition - this book would make a WONDERFUL gift to encourage your pastor's wife - or anyone in your life who is in the ministry. I think a lot of people take for granted the difficulties associated with a calling to a ministry life. This calling is a particular challenge when it is your husband's calling - not yours. It is truly a unique life - both difficult and wonderful at the same time.

This book is packed with advice, scripture, Biblical application, personal examples, and encouragement; but what is most valuable is the understanding. It is hard in the ministry to find someone who understands the challenges of life in the ministry; particularly if you are serving in a small church in a small town. Lisa tackles some HUGE issues like involvement, privacy, hurts, PK's, and serving in your own ministries.

You Can Still Wear Cute Shoes should be required reading for ministry wives! One of the neat things this book includes at the end of each chapter is the "Round Table" insight from other women in all walks of life, not just ministry wives. I loved this book, and Lisa McKay! She has such a "girlfriend" casual feel to her writing; you feel like you've known her forever. Her sense of humor and fun make this book fun to read, too. She did a great job with a pretty complex topic.

Here's a link to the book trailer and here is the link to Lisa McKay's blog which is a neat site to explore and read more!

Here's a link to buy the book - it sells for $12.99 - and it is well worth it!
