Skills - sister and family dog torture. Weaknesses - peas and total lack of volume control. <br />

Daniel is having 4 friends over for his birthday today and the high is expected to be in the low 40's. Not a good combination for fun. This means LOTS of boys inside the house. Prayers appreciated. I am quite good at girl parties. I have a ton of awesome games, activities, crafts, and amazing projects that I can pull off to prevent drama and create fun. With boys I am just absolutely clueless - and frankly just a bit scared.<br />

One thing is for sure, he has a crazy wit and sense of humor that makes him a blast to have around. He's a good kid, full of compassion, and he loves the Lord. I can't wait to see the mighty man of God he turns out to be someday.<br />

We had a fun Christmas this year! It came in a bit stressful for Mom - starting off the whole weekend sick, but Dad stepped up and finished the shopping, kept it all together and pulled it off. We were able to celebrate with both sides of the family and attend the Christmas Eve service at church, yet we still had plenty of time to relax and enjoy. Daniel read the Christmas story for the service, and he did a great job.<br />

Candle light service fun. Yep, I'll be going back to the church with some wax paper and an iron to get up the ton of wax this boy dribbled EVERYWHERE. Ugh. <br />

We try our best not to focus too much on gifts, but it's always a challenge. I am continually shocked by the extravagance of their friend's Christmas gifts. <br />

We have some pretty significant ones this year too. Ally turned 16 earlier this month!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjveoLEwcejZBh_QEGpO7JxvTLow-uSPiihEUWoWriclSFjjOlhbO2Z3NtpIcGMGRFTPGIsgX_vdeYMOSimrEWcFYLe4V1dHuq22NBtbxe6AQ1VYlUf4JCR8n82BrTBgufhm2kv85QVrA/s640/blogger-image-1771815100.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjveoLEwcejZBh_QEGpO7JxvTLow-uSPiihEUWoWriclSFjjOlhbO2Z3NtpIcGMGRFTPGIsgX_vdeYMOSimrEWcFYLe4V1dHuq22NBtbxe6AQ1VYlUf4JCR8n82BrTBgufhm2kv85QVrA/s640/blogger-image-1771815100.jpg" /></a></div>
She got her license the very next day and has done very well driving the Jeep (which is also a standard). Although we were a bit concerned at first, we have decided this is an excellent skill for her to master. And actually, driving a standard requires constant focus, which is also a very beneficial thing. You have to pay attention, and you can't get lazy in your driving.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggYJe3FfH5VFDCaylVb_H0eUrcyccrku7ND1qBvszg944Eu1U9s9rURqo4InrI0_8MNR9l1kTyx4dCYZ7Wc3FouCnp5AKYjilIYZpKfeO2qyXQ1x0NvrIM9N573mOdUSgERUYjKmoDt7E/s640/blogger-image--2102679126.jpg" /><br />
<span style="color: black;"></span><br />
Gracie has her birthday coming up very quickly on the 5th of January - turning another monumental 13 years old. Now, we have TWO teenagers. <br />

<br />
And of course, last but not least, December 30th, the youngest member of the family, Daniel turns 11. <br />

Is November really over? No way! This year has been crazy. We have got to slow down. December means we will have a 16 year old and a 11 year old. And shortly after that in early January, Gracie turns 13! We are very close to having a house full of OUR OWN teenagers instead of everyone else's.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Byron has lost almost 50 pounds. He LOVES to cook Thanksgiving food and snack and eat on it for days after. So, we knew we didn't need to do that this year. So, we decided to run a Turkey Trot 5K in Arlington. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We've wanted to do this for several years, but just haven't. But, boy, was it cold. It was 34 degrees when we started running. We are all wearing several layers in this picture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We warmed up as we ran, though and we all had a really fun time. The kids couldn't wait to do it again, and we certainly learned a lot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Byron and I went on a romantic overnight date on our anniversary. We celebrated 22 years of awesomeness. I love him more today than ever. We were not, however terribly impressed with cooking our own raw meat at Simply Fondue. It seemed like a cool idea, but we didn't like it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Our anniversary weekend always coincides with the Parade of Lights in downtown Fort Worth. Such a fun city to walk around and hang out. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
Our barn is turning out great! Byron is almost done with the tricky stuff - climbing around on the roof to get all the metal on!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We'll eventually have a great space for storing stuff and room for a shop for Byron.<br />

Byron took some time off from work to really get it finished up and it FLOODED for the entire time. <br />

Our dog LOVES to come with me to pick kids up from school. I let her get in the back of the truck and she runs errands and hangs out with me a lot in the afternoons. Until this happened. She started climbing on the top of the toolbox and peering out over the cab when I was going around 75mph! She was up there shaking, crying, and couldn't get down. I pulled over and got her down, but I think her short little dog years passed before her eyes there for a minute. <br />

Hope you all are having a warm and happy December! We are in the middle of a Texas ice storm today, so everyone is curled up and cozy inside. Blessings!</div>

All of my creativity and my time has gone into many projects, teaching Spanish, and keeping up with the kids. This blog, obviously, has taken a serious backseat. :(<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Ally's volleyball team is headed to the playoffs. She is #5 there. Bad picture, I know. We are all kind of ready for basketball season. A season we are blessed NOT to take an athletic interest in. We can regroup, rest, and restore. Family time and the holidy season will be much anticipated without rushing off to practices and games constantly. <br />

Yes, our dog just might be cooler than your dog. We have had a constant period of huge rains. Just over 6 inches last week and our whole property is MUDDY and this dog has been my #1 enemy of late. Picture muddy dog tracks leading in paths all over my floors. Ugh. Why an inside dog?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

This is what most of our property looks like right now. The horses are a couple hands taller with so much mud on their hooves and everything is tracked up and nasty. Byron was just beginning to disk up the back pasture area and smooth it out, so it is particularly bad back there, but we are hoping for a good crop of grass before it gets cold and we have to start buying hay.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDvMkPpTe64s6NcuWqsJuo9_cFh161eJOfG1oOTH2Fu7kIRkfsQFO7gbmoNFMZckbmbN37QooNMfwzvVdplRRo_8vrctwL65mAnEEUMjp1CbKuHt_8r2CKFJEpHPyA7XC09RXQbTVdsC8/s640/blogger-image-404268873.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDvMkPpTe64s6NcuWqsJuo9_cFh161eJOfG1oOTH2Fu7kIRkfsQFO7gbmoNFMZckbmbN37QooNMfwzvVdplRRo_8vrctwL65mAnEEUMjp1CbKuHt_8r2CKFJEpHPyA7XC09RXQbTVdsC8/s640/blogger-image-404268873.jpg" /></a></div>
Byron has almost finished the barn roof. He intended to make more progress, but all the rain put a serious kink in his plans. <br />

Ally and grandad watching football. Our highschool team is headed to the play-offs -probably that will be going on until December so it will be awhile before that is done, but Daniel's pee wee season ends this week. He gets to play in Cowboy's stadium this weekend - his last game.<br />

This is what it is like to go anywhere with a group of teenagers. Ridiculous. We've started declaring many media-free days and nights lately - an absolute necesity for any family. Eye-contact has become a lost artform. <br />

But, you know we are hip and we embrace the modern. We can do duck lips selfies with the rest of them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I'll try my best to get a few more blog posts in before the year end. Got that big 16th birthday coming up in only a month - and lots of holiday plans to put together. Fun times!</div>

We've had some minor milestones around here lately. Gracie lost her last baby tooth tonight. Now she can make room for the full-on braces on top and bottom. Crazy to think she'll be 13 and Ally will be 16 in just a few months.</div>

The new school year means we return to our crazy Wednesday youth nights. Our new stage lights are fashioned out of white air filters and black duct tape. Pretty cool looking though, huh? You can tell by the picture, this is the girl's side - we always divide them up - less distraction.<br />

And... we learned to Snapchat - and mastered the fine art of the duck lips too. We are just too hip. In case you are old - Snapchat is a not really so new method of communication - texting in pictures with an app on your phone. Not so revolutionary, really. The catch is that the pictures are sent and when received they disappear within a few seconds. It seems harmless enough, but it also gives teenagers a faulty sense of security - they often send pictures that are more risque - feeling that since it can only be viewed a few seconds, it's okay. The problem<em> (aside from the obvious purity issues)</em> is - you can quickly screen shot the picture (<em>that means take a quick picture with your phone - for you old people)</em>. And...I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a scandal someday and we're gonna learn that all the disappearing Snapchat photos are really going to some creepy app creator guy somewhere. In that case, Mr. Creepy Snapchat guy, I apologize for all the odd pictures we've sent into your cyberspace inbox. We had fun sending Ally some crazy Snapchats. She especially appreciated those of Byron's armpit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
On a totally unfunny note - it really is important to get all into the methods of communication and online involvement your kids are into - for parents and grandparents alike! It just changes the way students look at their online activity when Grandma might pop into the conversation at any moment. You'd be surprised how many kids are snapchatting - especially younger kids with ipods. And besides, who doesn't love to see a good picture with some duck lips or a bathroom mirror pic with the toilet in the background? </div>

This is how Gracie mows the yard. And fertilizes it.<br />

Although sometimes it causes a little more trouble than planned.</div>

I forgot how much of the summer was sucked away by volleyball two a days. And then of course there was my class room to make ready.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihf0Bg8Q92npndzwJef5mltXz20pK8R-QZt9k81dpdz_hLuoFQHPQQSUVOi69z7aZtWc_NhE0RpR1OIeIPrC01opyyiiwsjhbezxkTkL_r1DkwQQ83fctubC2lcU5a1jV0iwCJ2wmfFP4/s640/blogger-image--101223349.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihf0Bg8Q92npndzwJef5mltXz20pK8R-QZt9k81dpdz_hLuoFQHPQQSUVOi69z7aZtWc_NhE0RpR1OIeIPrC01opyyiiwsjhbezxkTkL_r1DkwQQ83fctubC2lcU5a1jV0iwCJ2wmfFP4/s640/blogger-image--101223349.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Then, all of a sudden out of no where, it was the first day of school. Super-fast cut out letters were made on the way out the door for the traditional Ayers family back to school portrait. <br />
<br />

This one is into Instagram, so she lets me take the pictures, even if she is just a little too cool to hold the double digits. <br />

Mostly, they whined and made goofy faces in protest of the pictures. And SOMEHOW I didn't even get Gracie and Daniel by themselves! Oh well, it was a dash to the car kind of a back to school morning. Everyone seemed to be happy with their teachers and classes. This is the last year with us all spread out into 3 schools. Next year, we will all be in one building. AND - next year Ally will drive. Crazy thoughts! But, mostly, a very exciting and busy time of life. Actually, for some reason fall is the busiest of all. Pee Wee Football, volleyball games 2x a week, constant practices, and a lot of student ministry stuff going on. I'm so thankful all of our kids have refused to play basketball. God knew we needed the downtown in the middle of the year. ayersfamilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09493489096244018020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502288523874003202.post-31206676526235955322013-08-14T00:36:00.001-04:002013-08-14T00:41:49.910-04:00August dreaded AugustThe summer just flies to August, doesn't it? We have had a really great summer, though. Nobody I know likes August in Texas. August is miserable. Electric bills through the roof. Pool is boiling hot. Grass is dry, brown, and scratchy. Horses have to have hay, and we worry about one of them hurting a leg falling in a crack in the ground. No mowing because even the weeds become precious.<br />
<br />
My creative-ness has just been flowing around here. I am decorating my Spanish I classroom. That's a post for another day. Yep. I'm returning to public school teaching. With a lot of prayer. I offered to teach art and go all day and left it to God, but the school just need me 1/2 day for Spanish. God knows best, and I am thinking a 1/2 day transition is going to be wonderful for our family. I'll still be able to do all that I do to keep this family rolling - and to keep my husband sane too. So project #2, after the classroom was this Pinterest inspired skirt. LOVE me some Pinterest. It was really easy and fun to make, I am already planning to make another one. <br />
<br />

I got these great, and extremely comfortable cowboy boots, and I am thinking I need some shorter skirts to show them off. Side note - my first mirror selfie! Am I hip or what? </div>

The countdown begins. Just 4 months till Ally turns 16. Daddy has been fixing up his old jeep, which will become her vehicle. It's a standard, so she still has to master that skill, but she's getting there. Ally made the varsity volleyball team, and she is loving it. She may not admit it, but she will enjoy having me at the school with her - although she's kinda bummed she can't wear my clothes as much. "Hey, Ally, didn't your mom wear that a few days ago?" Not cool.<br />

I'm not sure what Gracie will do without her daily 4-5 hour horseback rides. I suppose she'll be rushing home to ride right after school. Daniel and Daddy have started pee-wee football and they are both really excited about that season of the year. It's such a crazy season - so much going on. One of those seasons we have to check the calendar to plan a family meal where we all sit down together. </div>

Preteen camp was fabulous! We had a great time! Our speaker was an artist/ ventriloquist. I taught arts and crafts and we had pretty decent weather. <br />

It is always interesting to me to see the food choices they make when Mama isn't looking. He ate like 10 pieces of sausage every morning (I never fix sausage cause it smells). And.. he only had a tummy ache a couple of days :).</div>
<br />
No pictures of Ally. She did her second round of back to back camps. She went to camp with our old church and then came directly to preteen camp to help with Rec and to help me with ministry and lovin' on kids. She was only there for 2 1/2 days but she was a wonderful help to me.<br />

So now we are back home to whip the farm back in shape. Chores have been greatly neglected, the animals are needy, the pool is a pale shade of nasty, the laundry is piled to the moon, and we are all pretty worn out too.</div>

We spent a LONG week consumed with ball. Softball season 2013 is officially over. The verdict is still out on whether or not Ally is done with the sport. We shall see. She doesn't want to pitch anymore though. She loves centerfield, so maybe she'll be back. She will be too old for little league.</div>

Daniel and his best bud have the most interesting mound convos. Apparently, they pretty much are just breaking the tension by making fun of the base-runners. <br />

We NEVER have rain around here in July! Not this year, we have had softball games cancelled and pastures too wet to ride horses in. Craziness! Last summer, we spent 60 days straight with no rain, so this was really a blessing. We were just talking about getting some hay for the horses, and now, suddenly we have green grass again.</div>

Gracie has literally been riding 4-5 days a week. With all that training, that Lucy will do anything she asks. That horse hates the rest of us, but when she looks at Gracie, you can just see the love. She would do anything to please Gracie Pearl. She rides bareback a lot, jumping, galloping and going everywhere. Most days Gracie and Lucy are out riding before 7:00 in the morning so they can beat the heat. Sometimes Ally, Daniel, or Elana come along on Saxie. The girls go down to a neighbor's land and on the day of this picture, they went exploring in a nearby abandoned pasture. I love that they have places they can go and explore on horseback.ayersfamilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09493489096244018020noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502288523874003202.post-20856539263682962542013-07-19T23:19:00.002-04:002013-07-19T23:19:43.984-04:00We Interrupt This Crazy Summer<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Summer is always kinda crazy for youth pastors, and especially for youth pastors who build schools that have to be finished by August. And their wives who love planning preteen camp, and decorating vbs, and their crazy kids who play too many summer sports and go to too many activities. VBS was a fun and crazy week. But we haven't had too much of a summer break, it seems. </div>

I guess Dad and Mom are going to have to come to grips with her riding English. We don't have an English saddle of own, and their isn't much English riding in our neck of the woods. But, she's pretty smitten with English - and more importantly with jumping. </div>

The other sister is at horse camp. Learning more English jumping and having a great time trail riding and playing with her favorite cousin. Her horse went with her. Gracie was a nervous wreck with mom driving the trailer up to deliver them. But, they arrived, with matching hair bows (Gracie and her horse) in their braided hair. <br />

At least he doesn't look like this anymore! He missed one of the last days of school because his face was so swollen with poison ivy! He looked a bit like a chipmunk. He's enjoying his "sistercation" although we don't have anything particularly special planned. Sometimes, when you are the youngest child, it's enough just to have mom and dad all to yourself. We were in Waco and he got to make all the choices about where we ate and went. Pretty rare for a bossed around younger brother. </div>

Here's a quote, "As parents, we don't like to see our kids fail - even if failure might provide just the reality check they need. I'm no scientist, but I think we're biologically programmed to try to protect our children from the hurt and pain that failure brings, even if it means pushing them to persevere in something that lies outside their strengths and long-term interests. We make the tone-deaf kid practice piano. We book time at the batting cages for a child who's better suited to the library than the ball field. We insist on the advanced-placement class, thinking it will aid on college applications, even though the pressure makes the child (and therefore the whole family) miserable all year. <br />
Factor in the reality that we somehow think a child's failure is a reflection on us - <em>What will people think of me if my child fails? </em>- and we actually exacerbate the problem. We pressure our children to achieve success at all costs, sometimes to the detriment of something more valuable. That isn't to say we shouldn't encourage our kids to do their best and to follow through on their commitments. I'm not advocating dropouts. I'm advocating dropping things that don't matter and really winnowing down to the things that move God, the things that should move us too. I'm challenging us to weather the What Will They Think of Me storm in favor of trusting - truly trusting - the Father with our kids." <br />
<br />
Great thoughts. We've really enjoyed some upside down parenting lately and we've encountered so many of the issues in this book! Stepping aside and letting God handle situations is never easy, particularly with our children. And as they get older and begin to make some of their own choices, it is no less hard, but a more natural transition, to step back and allow God to work. I guess that is why the early years are so important. You are going to have to step back and let God move as they grow and it is so important that they know faith as young children as a foundation for that. Ally has decided she no longer likes pitching after five years of special coaches and countless dollars, and hours upon hours we've all spent pursuing this passion. Her choice doesn't upset us, we might even be a tad relieved in a way. Most importantly, she's making choices with God at the root of her decisions. It's just wild to see your kids growing and choosing, finding answers from God without your input. Kinda shocking - and cool - kind of peeling off the layers to reveal the flower bud of who they are really going to be, and with God tending the flower that's always exciting.<br />
<br />
One of the prayers Lisa Bergren asks you to pray in this book is, that your kids will get caught doing things wrong. Now, that's a blog post about a 10 year old boy right there - for another day. <br />

Yes, we do have a trampoline in our barn. We moved it in when an unexpected rain shower messed up plans for sleeping outside under the stars. Now, it's kind of a cool, shady place to read or jump & hit the ceiling.<br />

Spring always makes me itch for creating, planting, blooming. I made some fun corsages for some of our students for prom.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Purchasing a prom corsage is the biggest rip off in the world. Corsages generally go for around $30-40. I buy a bundle or 2 of roses and I am able to make a whole bunch of corsages. </div>

I love having plants around the house I can cut and bring in to enjoy. I try to keep a vaseful in the house. We have the most wonderful ancient rosebush that produces incredible long stem yellow roses. <br />

I've been seeing these poofy wreaths around and I thought of my mama. She likes a little bling, this was a gift for her birthday. After the wreath was done, I wrapped in a strand of battery operated flower lights. <br />

More corsages. I've been pretty busy working at the kid's schools lately, but when summer comes, I have quite the crafty do-list. Maybe I can also step up the blogging and share some of my projects with you! ;) </div>

Gracie and Daniel had not ridden go-carts alone, but they are finally both tall enough. Both of the girls placed in the top 2 in their classes and got a trophy or plaque for that. They got a lot of other awards too. Daniel hasn't had his awards day just yet.<br />

Including, eating at her choice, Noodles & company. She didn't end up placing, but she took and interesting slant on the topic and ended up with a good paper. However, her slant didn't support the more traditional (and expected) approach to the environmental topic she was given. Given she was writing this paper in the "tree-hugger" capital of Texas, maybe this was a freshman mistake. Gotta consider the audience, you know.</div>

We attended a wedding this weekend. One of our sweet former students and her awesome husband who both have helped us in our ministry. Gracie enjoyed the horse-drawn carriage and seating on haybales. She says she'd like to get married in a barn, and have the bridesmaids lead horses. Secretly, though, she says, the bridesmaids would actually BE the horses. Her future husband requirements include riding ability high on the list.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Miss Ally's future husband is another story in itself. When you encourage your children to set crazy high standards, you'd better be prepared to do lots of praying. He's gonna have to be a God-filled world changer - others need not apply. <br />
<br />
Daniel was unimpressed. Cake. Trees to climb. But for our girls, at this age, a wedding is a great opportunity to reminisce about mom and dad's standards, wedding, and marriage, and to begin fine-tuning that list of criteria a future young man must live up to. Good thoughts for the future. So many Godly families have children who grow into adulthood and compromise their purity. It's a topic we can't talk about enough, I pray that that they would see the fruits of our choices in our marriage.ayersfamilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09493489096244018020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502288523874003202.post-15075625221575189932013-05-08T15:10:00.000-04:002013-05-08T15:10:56.886-04:00Around the Farm<br />
It certainly doesn't feel like much of a farm around her with the first year and a good while for us to NOT have a garden. There's just been too much going on around her to get to planting. I'll have a late garden, but I'm not holding my breath. We've been too busy clearing land and working with animals. <br />

For us, the Spring is always crazy. Mainly due to softball, baseball,ministry demands, and keeping up with the animals and trying to keep up with spring growth of our property. We've been on the go so much lately - we can't wait to slow down a bit in the summer months!<br />

We're clearing! The back 5 acres of our property has always been covered with nasty, useless Mesquite trees. I'm a tree lover, but these trees are truly good for nothing - except smoking barbecue. We've had more flat tires and hurt feet from their thorns than I'd like to count. Recently my dear husband was riding Gracie's new mare and she took off with him and smacked him into several of these thorny trees and that was the straw that nearly broke his back. He declared no riding in the back and the trees had to go! So, we had a young man come out with a backhoe and push them over to make more grazing and riding area. It looks amazing in just a short time too! I can't wait to see this beautiful back area transformed into a grassy meadow! For now, there are lots of large holes and many, many piles that need to be burnt. Weinee Roast at the Ayers' house!<br />

Daniel has junk food issues. Yes, he's fond of junk food, but unfortunately, it isn't very fond of him. Since he was very young I have called him "junk food intolerant." He eats junk and gets a tremendous migraine-like headache and then throws up and he's better. As a toddler we called him the "one puke wonder." This has gotten worse recently and we decided to have him allergy tested to see if we could get to the bottom of it. I've always thought he was allergy to nitrates in processed meats, but we'll see when the results are in. He had to give quite a bit of blood - which means you have to refuel with chocolate dipped donut holes with sprinkles and chocolate milk. <br />

We love singing crazy in the backseat! Our whole family shares a prolific ITunes account and we love blasting music and singing with our kids as we travel down the road. Byron's phone syncs to his truck and we all 5 take turns choosing fun songs as we travel. We are pretty choosy about Christian only songs - with very rare exceptions - although the song being belted out in this picture is "Call me Maybe?" <br />

Gracie calling for the horses in for supper. Her favorite clothes. Overalls tucked into boots. I wish I'd have gotten her picture riding last week with 2 pigtails, crazy shirt, leggings, shorts, boots and a green tutu. It was quite a get-up.<br />

Even when you're 15, terribly mature, and have your driver's permit; when you are at your grandma's house at Easter, you gotta hunt some eggs. But mostly, you just gotta do silly poses and be goofy.<br />

We rescued them and fed them with eye droppers. We were overrun with the pesky varmints who nearly destroyed the garden last year & we do not want them as pets. I'm not sure what we'll do with them, but they sure were cute and HUNGRY. The kids enjoyed feeding them.<br />
